It was a very stormy night on Monday - Storm Claudio apparently. And it was stormy again on Tuesday night, with, according to the weather forecast, more rain to follow.
How right that forecast was.
Captain Moth-Butterfly has been visiting the Bavarian Branch of the family. They all had a great time, judging by the photos (see above) and the Zoom sessions - but the plane he flew back in last night had to land in rain that the Captain (not Captain M-B, but the pilot) warned his passengers was "apocalyptic". Col then had to drive back here, through this apocalyptic rain, in the dark, avoiding the country roads he would usually take, and feeling the car almost stop a couple of times as it tried to get through the water lying on the road.
And now he is off Metal Detecting! Early. In the rain. What can I say?
Apart from: I am very glad to have him back.
I woke up to a mystery on Wednesday morning. Last night on The Great British Bake-off, one of Janusz's spring rolls vanished! They all had to make eight rolls, plus a dipping sauce. And they all did. But, when Janusz's hit the judging table there were only 7!!!
It's a mystery to rival the Marie-Celeste. Having engaged my little grey cells (both of them) I have come up with this: many, many days later when they excavate the bottom of the deep fat fryers, they will find that extra roll, a tragic wreck lying broken on the bottom.
Or, wait a minute, am I thinking of the poor old Titanic? And if so, what happened to the iceberg? The mystery deepens.
And if only a missing spring roll was all we had to worry about, because the News seems to get more distressing by the day. Also I have been re-watching Spooks, which demonstrates just how devious the world of politics is, how devious it has to be. We seem to live in a world full of lies. Are we, for example, being told the truth, the whole truth about the distressing conflict in The Ukraine, which is causing such suffering to both the Russian and the Ukrainian people?
We do though have one completely reliable source of truth in the world, Jehovah' s inspired word. As Psalm 119:160 says: "The very essence of your word is truth..."
Jehovah is the God of truth, and his word is true.
And I now have the privilege of taking part in the fulfillment of an important prophecy made by Jesus himself when he said that during the time of his presence and just before Armageddon, a great preaching work would be done.
He told his followers: "And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come." - Matthew 24:14
Though at the moment, frustratingly, I am not able to go door to door as all I could do would be cough and sneeze over people, but also the skin condition, a new aspect of the arthritis, has reached my heel and made it impossible for me to wear shoes until the wound heals.
And yet I do long for everyone to know there is a good government coming, a perfect, loving one - the heavenly one. It is the one so many of us have prayed for when we said the Lord's prayer and asked for God/s Kingdom to come and for his will to be done on the earth.
