What the Brain Does

I am still down with this awful fluey cold - which started, ironically, just after I had my flu jab. Sore throat, coughing, snuffling, sneezing and general tiredness. The worst thing of all was not being able to sleep for four nights - as if the mechanism in my head that gets me to sleep had been switched off. I was on the verge of ringing the doctor to get some sleeping pills, as I thought I would go mad if I didn't sleep when, click, the switch came back on again, just like that.

Not sleeping well, due to coughing etc, but at least I am sleeping.

Very odd.  And how we take for granted what our brain does for us until it stops doing it.

Col's car is still hors de combat.
